OEE for food and beverage plants, with an owner on every minute.
Food and beverage lines lose time in three places a standard OEE report blends together: changeovers and clean-in-place, hundreds of short stops on fillers and packers, and waiting for material. Augos Factory measures each against the line's own standard and its own best shift, and puts every lost minute on the function that can recover it.

Food and beverage lines fail in patterns.
Short runs, strict hygiene and perishable inputs give these plants a loss profile of their own. Each pattern has a measurement that names its owner.
Changeovers and clean-in-place, timed against standard.
Every CIP cycle, hot rinse, changeover and quality check is declared on the terminal and timed against its Standard Allowed Time. The 170-minute CIP standard was missed on 13 of 24 cycles, while a 2-minute quality-check standard was missed on 27 of 39. The first is coaching; the second is a standard that needs re-planning.
The interruptions nobody logs.
A jam that clears itself, a sensor that trips and resets, a hesitation at the transfer. The Augos Operator Terminal counts every pulse and times the gap between them in milliseconds, so it catches every one. They made a fast machine look like a slow one.
Waiting for material.
Waiting for raw material stopped the line five times and cost 97.8 hours. No technician can shorten that. The Owner column puts it on planning and the supplier, so the morning meeting argues about the right thing.
The gap to your own best shift.
One recurring fault at a single station stopped the line dozens of times. The line's typical clearance was 6.1 minutes; the best graded operator cleared it in 5.5. The Best Operator Benchmark builds the line's best plausible day from times colleagues have already achieved.

Standard OEE shows the loss. OEE+ shows who owns it.
The arithmetic of OEE stays exactly as you know it. One column is added, and the fix follows the owner.
- The Owner column: operator, technician, planning, quality, external and shared. How it works
- Planned stops: the schedule's share is Planning Efficiency Loss, the execution's share is Operator Compliance, reported apart. The two losses
- Food-grade hardware, no PLC: a brushed 304 stainless steel, IP65 Augos Operator Terminal and an IP67 pulse sensor at the bottleneck. The terminal
- Augos Assist (Response): splits a filler fault into operator evaluation and resolution, technician response time, and active and inactive wrench time. Augos Assist
What it costs, and what you get.
One offer covers every line. The monthly fee includes every capability except the metrics that need Augos Assist, an optional extra.

The monthly fee includes
- Every capability, except the metrics that need Augos Assist
- The Augos Operator Terminal and pulse sensor, owned by Augos
- A SIM supplied by Augos, so there is no network or IT project
- A free terminal replacement every 36 months, and a one-year warranty
The once-off fee covers
- Set-up and remote testing
- Two days of on-site operator training
- Four weekly one-hour data reviews

The filler was not the problem
A beverage bottler blamed its filler for a line that kept stopping. The first month of monitoring showed 9,848 stops, nearly a quarter of paid time spent waiting, and an air-supply loss of over 34 hours.

No single breakdown, yet OEE sat at 26.5%. The losses were 218,000 interruptions lumped into one uncategorised bucket, until a change in data resolution made them visible.

Three identical lines, one running at half the OEE of its sisters. The data traced the gap to a single recurring failure code costing 61 hours a month.

Common questions.
Is our OEE low because of the plant or the people?
Usually both, in measurable proportions. On one anonymised beverage packaging line, over one month in 2026, five raw-material waits were 97.8 hours, 43% of unplanned time (a planning and supplier question) and 417 breakdowns were another 43% (a technician and operator question). The Owner column shows the split; a single OEE figure cannot.
How do you measure clean-in-place and changeovers fairly?
Each planned task has a Standard Allowed Time. The scheduled time is Planning Efficiency Loss, owned by planning. Time over the standard is Operator Compliance loss, owned by the operator. Time under the standard is a Capacity Opportunity, which says the standard can be tightened. The three are reported apart.
Do you need to connect to our fillers' PLCs?
No. A sealed pulse sensor counts product at the bottleneck and the Augos Operator Terminal captures stops and reasons, so the system works on any line, old or new, with nothing wired into your controls.
Is the hardware suitable for a washdown environment?
The Augos Operator Terminal is a brushed 304 food-grade stainless steel unit rated IP65 against dust and water; the pulse sensor is sealed to IP67.
Can we see energy and water per unit of production?
Augos Energy meters electricity, water, gas, fuel and compressed air at the same sites, so resource use can be read against production per half hour. A measured figure per unit is what a customer's carbon questionnaire asks a supplier for.
