For gas, we measure how much you use and when, so it can be costed, trended and checked against the bill.
1 · What we measure

Metering gas turns a monthly invoice into something you can check and act on. The volume can be costed against the tariff in Cost breakdown and reconciled against the supplier’s bill in Bill verification, and because the meter reads continuously, the flow pattern shows when gas is used and flags unexpected draw, the kind that points to a leak or a process left running. Where a site reports its carbon, measured gas consumption is the Scope 1 figure that reporting is built on.
2 · How it's measured
Gas is metered the same way as water, by reading the pulse output of your existing gas meter. A pulse sensor counts the pulses and the platform turns them into volume and flow. How often it reports is set by the device, from minutes up to several hours depending on its technology and power; it counts every pulse in between either way, so the total is exact even when the reporting is less frequent.
Because the sensor reads the existing meter’s pulse output, the meter stays in place and supply isn’t interrupted to fit it.
3 · Hardware
The device behind it:
- Pulse sensor, counts the pulses from your gas meter and turns them into volume and flow.
4 · Reports it feeds
Gas is its own product on the platform, so it runs through every report except the three that are electricity-specific (power factor, tariff comparison and time of use):
- Dashboard and Consumption breakdown, for volume and flow at a glance and across the hierarchy.
- Cost breakdown, Cost allocation and Bill verification, where the volume is priced against your tariff, split across areas or cost centres, and reconciled against the supplier’s bill.
- Technical analysis and Charting, for the flow trace in detail and plotted against anything else.
- Data download, for the raw readings.
- Triggers & alerts, where an alert on flow flags unexpected use or a possible leak.
5 · Extracting the data
Every gas reading is yours to take off the platform, three ways:
- API, to pull readings live into your own systems.
- AI-ready data & exports, a structured payload a model or agent can read directly.
- File export, the same readings as a plain file in the format you need.
6 · Common questions
Can you meter my existing gas meter?
Yes. The pulse sensor reads the pulse output of your existing gas meter, so the meter stays in place and supply isn’t interrupted to fit it.
Is the total still accurate if the sensor reports only every few hours?
Yes. The sensor counts every pulse as it happens; the reporting interval only sets how often those counts are sent. The cumulative volume is exact regardless of how often it reports.
Can I check the gas bill against what I actually used?
Yes. Measured volume gives an independent figure to cost against the tariff in Cost breakdown and to compare with the supplier’s invoice in Bill verification.
Can measured gas feed carbon reporting?
Yes. Gas consumption is a Scope 1 figure, and the same readings that cost the gas are the basis carbon reporting is built on.
