Date rules, and "invalid date range"

Verification periods must run consecutively with no overlap and no gap. The new period starts the day after the previous reading date. If the date picker will not accept the dates printed on your account, either the previous period is in the way, or you have hit a session problem that clears on refresh.

The rule

Previous reading date 31 January means the new period starts 1 February. The picker enforces this, which is why it sometimes appears to offer only the boundary dates of the period already captured.

What you will see

  • "Augos says invalid dates" when entering the dates from the account.
  • The picker only offers the day before and the day after the captured period.
  • A combined utility account covering an unusually long period, for example 64 days, that will not fit alongside what is already captured.

What to do

  1. Refresh and try again. A meaningful share of these are a front-end or session problem that clears immediately.
  2. Check what is already captured. If a shorter period overlaps the one you are trying to enter, that shorter period has to go first. See Deleting or correcting a bill.
  3. Check you are on the right measurement point. On a multi-point site the previous period differs per point.
  4. If it still refuses, send the site name and the utility account to support@augos.io. Support can replicate it and, where needed, set the dates from the back end.

The long combined account

Utilities occasionally issue a combined account covering an unusually long period. Capturing it means unwinding the shorter periods already captured inside it. Support does this routinely; ask rather than fighting the picker.

Good to know

  • The billing period on the point should match your utility's read cycle. If it does not, the verification compares two different windows and the variance is meaningless. If a variance looks implausible, check this before anything else.
  • Landlord recovery cycles are often not calendar months. Make sure Augos has your actual cycle recorded.

Still stuck

Email support@augos.io with the point path, the dates you are trying to enter, the dates the picker offers, and the utility account.
