Choosing a date range, and when the date picker will not cooperate

Date selection lives in the top right of most pages. If the picker will not let you go past a certain day, that day is usually the last one for which the meter has published data. It is a symptom, not a bug.

What you will see

  • The report defaults to a long period and you want one month.
  • "It will not let me select dates past the 4th, even though it is the 20th."
  • A month is missing from the selector entirely.
  • The chart shows an extra empty month at the end of the range you asked for.

Why it happens

The picker stops at a date. The picker only exposes dates for which data exists. If a meter went offline on the 4th, the 4th is where the picker stops. As the meter catches up from its onboard memory, later dates become selectable one by one, which looks like the data "creeping forward". Check the point on Technical Analysis to see how far it has caught up. See How current is my data.

A whole month is missing from the selector. Same cause, longer outage. This is one of the more reliable symptoms of a meter that has been offline for a while.

You cannot get the period you want at all. Different pages support different period behaviour. The Dashboard is a daily snapshot by design. Consumption Breakdown accepts a date range. Technical Analysis accepts a custom period down to the minute. See Which page answers which question.

What to do

  1. Look for the date control in the top right of the page. It is in the right-hand corner and you click it to change month.
  2. If the picker stops early, check whether the point is publishing before reporting a date problem.
  3. If you need a period the page will not give you, move to Technical Analysis or ask support to send the report.

Good to know

  • Custom-period tariff reports that include sub-points are not produced instantly. They have to cache first, so the button can look as though it did nothing. Give it time or ask support to email the report when it lands.
  • On Charting, the y-axis scale cannot be set when creating a report. Two workarounds: create the report, switch the tab to month view and zoom over the whole graph so the scale adjusts; or export the values with Data Download and build the chart yourself.

Still stuck

Email support@augos.io with the page, the point and the period you are trying to select, and a screenshot of the picker.
