Reallocating meters between cost centres

Email support@augos.io with the meters, the cost centres they should move to, and, most importantly, whether the change should apply from the beginning of the record or from a specific date. That last question changes your historical cost allocation, so it is worth being deliberate about.

The question to answer first

From the beginning, or effective from a date?

Applied from the beginning, the reallocation rewrites how every past period was split. That is right when the platform was simply configured wrongly, or when you want a consistent view of how the site is organised today.

Effective from a date is right when the load physically moved on a known date and you want past reporting to reflect what was actually true at the time.

Support will ask this before applying anything. Answering it up front saves a round trip.

What can be done

  • Move a sub-meter from one cost centre to another.
  • Split a single meter across several cost centres by weighting, for example 0.9 to one and 0.1 to another. Fractional allocations are supported.
  • Accumulate shares from several meters into one cost centre.
  • Move a billing point onto a different supply account.

What to send

  1. Each meter, by serial number or full point path.
  2. The cost centre code or name it should move to.
  3. The weighting, where it is not the whole meter.
  4. Whether the change applies from the beginning or from a date.

A list is fine and is how these usually arrive. Support confirms back what was applied.

Good to know

  • Billing point structure and hierarchy structure are two separate things. Moving a meter between cost centres does not necessarily change the site hierarchy, and changing the hierarchy does not necessarily change the cost split. Say which one you mean, or say what outcome you want and let support work out which needs changing.
  • Where a site's water or electricity sits on a standalone municipal account, it should have its own billing point rather than being rolled into another site's calculation.
  • After a reallocation, ask for the affected months' cost allocation to be recalculated so the reports reflect the change.
