Cancelling, deactivating or moving a meter

Three different things get called the same thing. Say which one you mean, because they have different consequences.

What you wantWhat happens
Cancel the monitoringBilling for that point stops. The hardware stays where it is.
Deactivate the pointData collection stops and the point drops off your meter list. History is retained.
Remove or relocate the hardwareA site visit, and a quote.

Cancelling monitoring

Send a signed cancellation request to support@augos.io. Note before anything happens:

  1. The effective date must be explicit. Today, or month end? This drives the final month's billing, so it is asked every time. Say it in the covering email and the whole thing is done in a couple of hours.

Augos confirms per meter and per site once the deactivation is done.

Deactivating a point but keeping the hardware

If a machine has been decommissioned and you do not want the meter removed, say so. The point is deactivated and the hardware is left in place. This is a common arrangement and it avoids an unnecessary site visit.

Note that a deactivated site no longer appears on your self-service meter list. The data is retained and can be exported on request. See Bulk and historical exports.

Moving a meter to another site

This needs a site inspection at the destination before anything is quoted, because three things have to be checked: the distribution board rating (which decides whether new current transformers are needed), the physical space, and mobile coverage.

Send the destination board's amperage with your request. Existing current transformers rarely transfer between boards of different ratings, and knowing the amperage up front is what turns a quote around quickly.

Expect the quote to include new current transformers. The meter itself is usually reusable, though on an older unit Augos will say plainly that they cannot guarantee how long it will last.

Give the cutover date. Relocation requests are the ones most likely to stall, and a hard date in the request is what stops that happening.

Outstanding balances

Any outstanding balance is settled before a relocation proceeds.

Still stuck

Email support@augos.io with which of the three actions you want, the request if it is a cancellation, the effective date, and the destination board amperage if it is a move.
