What the platform cannot tell you
A meter measures everything behind it as one number. It cannot tell you which machine used what. If you need that, you need sub-metering, or you need to switch loads on and off and watch the total.
Load disaggregation
"Can you tell us which equipment is responsible for what share of our usage?" is a reasonable question with an unsatisfying answer. Behind a single measurement point, there is no way to itemise usage per appliance from the data alone. Two routes work:
1. Sub-metering. Put a meter on the loads you care about. That is the only way to get a standing answer.
2. Elimination. With a metered point on the platform, the total updates every sixty seconds. Switch loads on and off and watch what moves. It is crude, it takes someone on site, and it works.
Supply points you are not measuring
Before spending time analysing data for an unexplained increase, confirm what is actually behind the meter. A prepaid supply on the same property can be a completely separate supply point on the utility's records, fed independently of the point Augos measures. No amount of analysis of the metered data will explain consumption that is not flowing through it.
Where a site has prepaid points or a second connection, ask the municipality whether they are on the same supply before assuming they are.
Splits that are not physically metered
A virtual point can combine what is already measured. It cannot invent a split. If a generator feeds both your site and a neighbour through one measurement point, the split cannot be derived; one leg has to be metered. See Virtual measurement points.
Derived quantities with storage in between
If you calculate one quantity by subtracting one meter from another, and there is a tank, reservoir or buffer between them, the arithmetic is invalid. The two meters are decoupled in time. Draw the physical flow before trusting a derived number.
Sub-second events
Standard metering records every sixty seconds and is not a power quality instrument. See Power quality, dips and surges.
Generation you do not meter
Where a solar installation was put in by a third party, Augos points at that site carry municipal supply data only. Generation data comes from the solar provider. See Diesel, tank levels, solar and other third-party data.
Still stuck
Email support@augos.io describing what you want to know rather than what report
you want. Where the answer needs additional metering, Augos will say so and quote
the options, including a site inspection where the layout is unclear.
